Brows Through the Seasons: Keeping Them Fresh All Year

Great Brows Deserve Year-Round Care

Getting your brows done is just the beginning of your beauty journey. At MyTime by Sue, we believe great brows aren’t a one-time event—they're a year-round relationship. Whether it's blazing summer or dry winter, each season brings different challenges for your semi-permanent eyebrows. Knowing how to care for your brows in every climate ensures they stay sharp, fresh, and fabulous all year long.

Summer Glow, Not Summer Fade

Summer is one of the trickiest seasons for semi-permanent brows. Why? Because excessive sun exposure and sweat can cause premature fading. We always advise our clients to:

  • Use SPF on your brows (yes, really!) to protect against UV damage
  • Wear wide-brimmed hats or sunglasses for added shade
  • Avoid direct sun exposure in the first few weeks after treatment
  • Cleanse gently post-workout to remove sweat and bacteria

We also recommend planning your brow appointment before or after a major beach holiday—not during. Your skin needs time to heal properly, and saltwater, chlorine, or tanning lotions can interfere with healing.

Winter Brows Need Love Too

Cold weather doesn’t mean your brows are off the hook. Winter air tends to be dry, and indoor heating only makes things worse. That dryness can cause flaking, irritation, and even uneven pigment retention. Here’s how to keep winter brows looking their best:

  • Moisturize daily around the brow area (avoid heavy oils that affect pigment)
  • Stay hydrated internally—drink plenty of water
  • Avoid hot showers or steamy facials in the early healing phase
  • Don’t over-exfoliate your face near the brow line

We also provide clients with aftercare balm recommendations that are winter-friendly and non-comedogenic.

Spring & Autumn: The Reset Seasons

Spring and autumn are excellent times to reassess your brow game. As your skin transitions between extremes, this is when many clients book their annual touch-up. We evaluate shape, color retention, and adjust pigment tones if necessary.

If you’re a first-timer, these transitional months are perfect for new treatments—the weather is more forgiving, and healing is smoother with milder temperatures.

Oily Skin? Outdoor Lifestyle? More Frequent Touch-Ups May Be Needed

If you have oily skin or spend lots of time outdoors—gardening, hiking, running—you may notice your brows fade a little faster. This doesn’t mean anything went wrong; it just means your skin regenerates more quickly. In these cases, we might recommend touch-ups every 9–10 months rather than yearly.
